During today’s hearing, defense attorney Kevin Reddington brought a box filled with letters of support to court, which he said Clancy had received from people in different parts of the world.
“She reads every one of them,” Reddington said as he handed the letters to Clancy’s parents, who were present in the courtroom.
Dozens of people have sent messages of support to the woman, while some have also closely followed the latest hearings. According to CNN, some supporters said they had written directly to Clancy and had also spoken with her about her stay at Tewksbury Hospital, where she is currently being held.
The case has sparked strong reactions in the United States, while one of the central issues in the trial concerns Clancy’s mental state at the time of the killings.

The prosecution insists that she acted “deliberately, rationally and swiftly” when she killed the three children. The defense, meanwhile, argues that Clancy cannot be held criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time.
The jury, made up of nine women and three men, informed Judge William Sullivan on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 1 and 2, that it was unable to reach a unanimous decision.
Following the notification, Sullivan gave the jurors the “Tuey-Rodriguez” instruction. This instruction directs them to review the evidence and arguments presented during the trial and to consider the reasonableness of the different positions.
If the deadlock continues and the jury cannot reach an agreement, the judge may declare a mistrial, paving the way for a possible retrial.
Reddington said the defense team is also ready for a new trial.
“I have the witnesses ready. We are ready. We have all the evidence. The witnesses are available. So, let’s get started,” he said.
Lindsay Clancy is accused of suffocating her three young children in January 2023. The case has drawn significant attention in the United States, mainly because of the debate over her postpartum mental state and its possible influence on the actions she carried out.
