Izet Mexhiti, one of the leaders of the VLEN coalition, called on the Albanian opposition to vote for two government legislative initiatives: the Law on Fair and Adequate Representation, and the one enabling the bar exam to be taken in one’s mother tongue.

He stressed that these acts are directly in the interest of the national cause, so the opposition should set aside grievances. “The VLEN proposal has received the green light at all levels, both from the executive and from the Venice Commission. I hope that our opposition colleagues, who failed to resolve this issue for 22 years, will now be constructive and, overcoming their anger, vote in the name of Albanian interests for both laws. As an opposition force, they can always have greater demands, but when their turn in power comes, they will have the opportunity to improve them and make them even better. I openly call on them not to act out of spite, but to be guided by the broader Albanian interest, to close issues that they had the chance to resolve over 22 years. So, I publicly call on them to join us and approve them together,” Mexhiti declared.
