As a result of the injuries, the 55-year-old woman also died in hospital.
Arben Plaka died at his home in the early hours of Friday morning after being shot by Nertil Buzi, while his wife Burbuqe Plaka (also known as Lela) was seriously wounded.
She fought for over 12 hours in hospital, but sadly, in the evening, doctors confirmed her death.
Nertil Buzi, aka Refit Buzi, also took their daughter Rozalinda hostage – with whom he had had a turbulent relationship – but released her around the afternoon thanks to police negotiations.
RENEA, the special police force, tried for hours to keep the situation under control and negotiate the 35-year-old’s surrender, but he kept crying and threatening to kill himself.
Around 4:30 p.m., after several successive negotiations failed, Nertil Buzi took his own life.
