A mobile phone was recently found in the possession of Laert Haxhia, who is serving a life sentence at Drenova prison, during a search conducted by the institution’s authorities.

Haxhia has been convicted for a series of serious crimes, among which the double murder of Zamir Latifi and Jurgen Çela in Lushnje stands out, as well as other criminal charges.
The information was confirmed to BalkanWeb by journalist Klodiana Lala, who specified that the telephone device was found in his possession during routine checks in the prison facilities.
The case of Haxhia is not isolated; individuals convicted for extremely serious crimes have been caught before with prohibited items inside their cells.
Following this discovery, the competent authorities are expected to launch thorough verifications and take additional measures to prevent the recurrence of such violations.
