PD Chairman Sali Berisha Reports to SPAK Under Mandatory Appearance Order

This Monday, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, appeared at SPAK in compliance with the security measure “obligation to appear” imposed on him in the Partizani file.

The Democratic leader was greeted by a group of supporters outside the premises of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution.

The country’s former prime minister is accused of passive corruption of high-ranking state officials, as during his time as prime minister he used his powers and influence to favor the privatization of the “Partizani” sports complex, undertaking actions that created benefits for his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi.

Malltezi is accused of passive corruption and money laundering. According to SPAK, he illegally benefited from the privatization of the property and the change of its designated use for construction, and also gained approximately 5.4 million euros through the company Homeplan sh.p.k.

Also charged in this file are Fatmir Bektashi, accused of active corruption and money laundering, while the other two, Xhimi Begeja and Andia Pustina, are accused of money laundering.
