According to the latest official data, the death toll from the seismic tremors that struck Venezuela on June 24 has reached at least 5,119 people.
In the last 24 hours, about 50 more victims have been confirmed, even though more than three weeks have passed since the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes, which caused massive destruction, mainly in the north of the country and in the coastal state of La Guaira, near the capital Caracas.

Parliament President Jorge Rodríguez announced that the number of injured remains at 16,740, while an official figure for the missing has not yet been released. A day after the disaster, the United Nations estimated that the missing could number up to 50,000, but other sources put this number at around 10,000.
Search and rescue operations are continuing in the most affected areas, especially in La Guaira, where emergency teams are working to extract victims and survivors from the rubble of collapsed buildings.
According to authorities, 17,907 people have been left homeless, while another 21,470 have been placed in 107 temporary camps set up to deal with the emergency situation.
Official data shows that more than 850 buildings have suffered damage, with 190 of them having completely collapsed.
Authorities continue damage assessment and emergency operations, while the casualty toll is expected to change as searches in the destroyed areas have not yet concluded.
