Recent claims by Snezhana Paunović, a minister in the Serbian Government, have sparked sharp reactions in Kosovo and the region. Publicist Milaim Nela commented on her statement after she said that she “would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo in 1998”.
According to Nela, this stance should not be seen as an ordinary media statement, but as a message carrying political weight. He believes that such statements, when made by senior Serbian representatives, should be treated seriously.

He called for this case to be used as an argument to strengthen Kosovo’s international position, including by accelerating the process of joining NATO, which he considers a guarantee of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Nela noted that Croatia is the first NATO member state to have expressed and supported this stance. According to him, Kosovo should pursue this goal insistently, while Albania should also have lobbied for it.
Referring to the relations of Albanian institutions with Serbia, he criticised the way such statements are handled, stressing that they should not be met with silence, reports “Bota sot”.

The Serbian minister’s statement regarding Kosovo, ethnic cleansing and especially the aim of reoccupying it as soon as KFOR leaves, which is effectively the official position of the Serbian government, should be used as an argument for Kosovo’s accelerated membership in NATO as a guarantee of its sovereignty and territorial integrity!
Croatia is the first NATO member state to have articulated and supported this!
Kosovo, too, should strongly pursue and demand this!
Albania should also have demanded and lobbied for this, but this cannot be done without removing Serbia’s vassal, Edi Rama, and the party of Miladin and Dushan from power!
Paunović’s stance should not be overlooked as a simple media statement, because it is not one!
It is much more than that!
