VLEN Denounces: 9 Million Euros from the EU Missing, Ali Ahmeti’s Zajazi Still Without a Sewage Network

The VLEN coalition has leveled strong accusations against the Democratic Union for Integration regarding the sewage project in Zajas. According to VLEN representatives, the concerns raised two weeks ago about this alleged scandal are serious and demand immediate answers.

They drew attention to the disappearance of more than 9 million euros from European Union funds, also mentioning a criminal complaint filed by the Financial Police. VLEN expressed doubts that contracts were signed with local firms and hypothesized that businesses close to Ali Ahmeti’s family circle may have been involved in this affair. Their demand remains the full disclosure of every agreement, payment, and responsibility related to this initiative, underlining that investigations are now being sought not only by them but also by the European Union itself.

EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas has confirmed that the institution is gathering all necessary documentation for the project. In this context, VLEN stressed that the public deserves to know not only the fate of the money but also who declared the project completed, on the basis of what documents and criteria. The more this issue, which reeks of corruption, is dug into, the more a complex network is uncovered that keeps expanding.

Over 24 years, DUI held power, while in Kicevo it governed the municipality for three consecutive terms. It was precisely during its administration that this project with European funds, with a completion deadline of 2024, failed. Now the reasons for the lack of sewage are becoming clear. VLEN calls on the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Financial Police to extend the investigation to the end and to coordinate actions with European partners without any hesitation.

This case, according to VLEN, unmasks the true face of DUI. They described DUI’s actions as patriotism in front of the cameras and failures, lost millions, and a huge mess behind the scenes—a mess now being uncovered by the EU. According to them, Ali Ahmeti’s move to the opposition was necessary for all the sludge to surface, including the explanation of why Zajazi, his birthplace, remained without a functioning sewage system.
