A recent statement by Snezhana Paunovic, Serbia’s Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, has sparked a harsh reaction from British MP Alicia Kearns. Paunovic had said that if she were in Slobodan Milosevic’s position, she would have carried out the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo to its end during 1998.
In a post on platform X, Kearns called this stance “a stain on the Government of Serbia,” describing it as a shameful endorsement of ethnic cleansing in Kosovo.

The British MP pointed out that the generation now in their thirties still holds fresh memories of the atrocities that Milosevic’s regime forces inflicted upon them and their families. According to her, no justification can diminish these crimes, let alone glorify them.
“No attempt to justify — let alone praise — these crimes can make the world forget what happened in Kosovo,” she stressed.
In closing her reaction, Kearns called for the crimes committed in Kosovo to remain forever in memory, concluding the message with the words: “Never forget.”
