Serbian authorities stop Kosovo delegation at border, Nagavci: We expressed our condolences near Presheva

Serbian authorities barred the head of the Parliamentary Group of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Arbërie Nagavci, from entering Presheva. She was traveling together with MPs Fatmire Kollçaku and Liza Gashi, as well as the prime minister’s political adviser, Ragmi Mustafi.

The delegation had planned to express its condolences to the mayor of the Municipality of Presheva, Ardita Sinani, following the death of her father.

In a statement, Nagavci said that Serbian police stopped them at the border crossing and held them for more than two hours without providing a reason. They were later informed that they could not continue their journey and had to turn back.

She explained that the visit was private and humanitarian in nature, with no political agenda, and therefore described the decision by the Serbian authorities as unacceptable.

Because they were stopped, the condolences were conveyed to Ardita Sinani near the border. The mayor of the Municipality of Presheva had gone to the area together with her family members to meet them.

“This action is unacceptable. Serbia must respect the obligations it has undertaken, instead of obstructing citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,” Nagavci said.

Nagavci also announced that the case would be referred to the relevant authorities and institutions of the European Union.
