Spanish authorities have intervened at a migrant camp near the coast of Ceuta, where thousands of people had settled after crossing the border from Morocco two months ago.
According to the Spanish government, more than 72,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta from Morocco at the end of July. Most have since returned, while at least 10,000 people continue to remain in the Spanish autonomous territory in North Africa. Their presence has strained local resources and heightened tensions.

Police removed the migrants from Trampolin beach, where around 3,000 people had lived for two months in tents and makeshift shelters.
A spokesman for Spain’s Interior Ministry told Reuters on Monday that the migrants would be taken to a temporary facility, where they would undergo legal procedures or could be returned to Morocco.
