Tabaku: High prices cannot be brought down with a “digital police officer,” but by changing policies; the government does not intend to help farmers, but KAYO

Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku blamed the government for high prices in Albania, saying that economic and fiscal policies are among the main causes weighing on citizens.

According to her, a considerable portion of fuel prices consists of taxes. She also criticized the level of VAT on basic food products, mentioning rice, sugar and flour.

“Are prices high in Albania today because there was no digital police officer at the business’s door?! Do pensioners, citizens, farmers and students need to see what the prices are at the business’s door? The answer to high prices is the government. The government’s mistakes and misguided policies are the main reason why each of you is paying higher prices today. In the case of fuel, for example, 60% of the price consists of taxes. For food prices — rice, sugar and flour — VAT is 20%, the highest in the region and among the highest even compared with European Union countries. These things drive up prices,” said the Democratic Party MP.

She also criticized the support the government provides to companies such as KAYO, while saying that sectors such as the garment industry and agriculture are not receiving the necessary support.

“The government is not concerned with creating economic policies, adopting policies that lower prices, freeing markets from monopolies and allowing competition. The Albanian government has only one concern: corruption! The Albanian government does not intend to help farmers, but it helps KAYO. It does not intend to help Albanian families cope with rising prices, but it helps concessionaires. The Albanian government does not invest or provide funding for the garment sector and agriculture to continue developing, but supports those golden roads: one billion euros, half of which are currently under investigation,” Jorida Tabaku stressed.

These things drive up prices.

Farmers are burdened by the taxes imposed on rural areas, as well as by the lack of subsidies.

The government is not concerned with creating economic policies, adopting policies that lower prices, freeing markets from monopolies and allowing competition. The Albanian government has only one concern: corruption!

The Albanian government does not intend to help farmers, but it helps KAYO. It does not intend to help Albanian families cope with rising prices, but it helps concessionaires.

The Albanian government does not invest or provide funding for the garment sector and agriculture to continue developing, but supports those golden roads: one billion euros, half of which are currently under investigation.

These are the concerns of the Albanian government, not those of the citizens.

For this reason, this system must be changed, and this government must be changed, as it is increasingly showing every day that it is a government of the minority.
