The organizers are seeking to convey their opposition to the Albanian government to European institutions. One of their main demands is the unconditional resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
To speak about the rally, Suela Medini, an activist involved in protests in Milan, traveled to Brussels today and provided details in an interview with News24.
Medini said that the diaspora has decided to continue protesting without stopping. According to her, Albanians living abroad want Albania without Edi Rama, whom they consider responsible for misgovernance and rampant corruption in the country.
The activist said that the latest scandals are seen more as attempts to divert attention from what she called the real scandals at SHISH, AKSHI and KAYO. She called on the European Commission to repeal the 2024 law on Protected Areas and demand the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
According to Medini, the diaspora is ready to come to Tirana with the aim of forcing the prime minister to resign. She said that protesters would remain in the square until the overthrow of what she described as an anti-national government, which the Albanian people no longer deserve.
