In a message from the road to The Hague, Lapaj described this day as important for Albanians, while expressing his hope that the former KLA leaders will return to their homes.
“Good morning. I am on my way to The Hague. Today is a sacred day for our people, for the sacred war of the KLA, which stood up for our land,” Lapaj said.
He recalled the war in Kosovo and its victims, describing the resistance of Albanians as a decisive factor in bringing that period to an end.
“A people massacred by the Serbian people. A tragic history that was destroyed and brought to an end thanks to the resistance of Albanians,” he declared.
In conclusion, Lapaj expressed his hope that today’s verdict would be followed by the return of the former KLA leaders to Kosovo.
“I hope that today they will return home and that Pristina and all Albanian lands will turn it into a celebration,” Lapaj said.
