According to the Chamber, Dr. Brovina devoted her entire life to the medical profession and to contributing to the betterment of society.
“We received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Dr. Flora Brovina, a pediatrician, humanitarian, poet and prominent activist for the national cause,” the institution said in its statement.
Even during the war in Kosovo, she did not withdraw from her mission. Dr. Brovina continued to provide healthcare services to women and children affected by the war, supporting them under the most difficult conditions.
Her humanitarian engagement also led to her arrest on April 20, 1999, while in Serbia she was held in prison for around a year and a half.
The Kosovo Chamber of Physicians assessed that her contribution to medicine and to the service of society was extraordinary. For this reason, on September 11, 2026, it decided to award her the decoration for special merit, entitled “Ali Sokoli.”
“With her passing, the medical community has lost a rare doctor and humanitarian, while our society has lost a figure who embodied courage, dedication and humanity,” the statement further said.
The institution extended its most sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Flora Brovina, her associates and all those who had the opportunity to know her.
“Her memory will remain eternal, while for the younger generations she will serve as a model of dedication to patients and service to society,” the statement concluded.
“May she rest in peace.”
