Ramabaja on the September 16 protest: The KLA cannot be used to dismantle the Republic

Analyst Sadri Ramabaja has reacted to the protest announced for September 16, expressing the view that, under the pretext of defending the KLA, an attack on the Republic of Kosovo is being planned.

According to him, the organizers are using the KLA for political purposes, while any attempt that could lead to the destabilization of the state must be prevented through institutional, political and democratic means.

Ramabaja stressed that Kosovo will not turn back and that the Republic will continue to stand.

This is Ramabaja’s full statement:

“This calamity befell us—and we saw each other for who we are!

The expression ‘This calamity befell us and we saw each other’ is used in folk wisdom to describe an ordeal that brings to light the true faces, intentions and projects of a society, along with its profound pain and the double moral standards that may hide behind such an event.

On September 16, the modern Haxhi Qamils intend to return to the stage. They claim to be defending the KLA, but, according to Ramabaja, the real aim is to strike at the Republic, precisely that political and historical achievement made possible by the war of the grassroots KLA and the sacrifice of the Albanian people.

The paradox is complete: the KLA emblem is being used as a shield to destroy the Republic that emerged from its war.

No. This does not constitute a defense of the KLA. It is being instrumentalized.

The KLA did not fight for Kosovo to remain without a state, without institutions and without a Euro-Atlantic orientation. It fought for the freedom, dignity and right of Kosovo’s Albanians to build their own state.

The Republic is the political achievement of that war.

Nevertheless, the Republic does not represent the end of Albanian history. It is an intermediate stage toward Unification, as well as a powerful foundation for building the national future in a united Europe.

Therefore, anyone who attempts today to dismantle the Republic by relying on KLA symbols must understand that the KLA cannot be used against the Republic created by its war.

This ominous conduct that has been announced must be stopped decisively through institutional, political and democratic mechanisms. The state cannot allow the symbols of the struggle for freedom to be turned into tools for destabilizing and dismantling the constitutional order.

Recycling the spring of 2004 in the autumn of 2026 constitutes an anti-KLA act and an act against freedom itself.

The Republic belongs to no party, group or individual.

It is the most sublime victory of a people.

Neither the modern Haxhi Qamils, regardless of their noise, nor Serbia, with its persistent revisionist projects, have the power to turn history back.

September 16 may serve as a test, but also as a moment of clarity.

This calamity befell us—and we saw each other for who we are.

Those who love the Republic have been identified.

Those who want to dismantle it are also becoming visible.

It has also become clear who sees the KLA as a symbol of the memory of freedom and who intends to use it as a mask for another project.

The Republic will stand.

The KLA’s achievement will remain.

History cannot be dismantled through recycled scenarios.

Kosovo will not turn back.”
