U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration is preparing a broad package of punitive measures against the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Wall Street Journal reported.

According to sources cited by the American newspaper, the restrictions could take effect after a grace period expected to last around six to seven months.
The proposed measures would significantly restrict the court’s financial operations, preventing it from conducting transactions in U.S. dollars and potentially cutting it off from a major part of the international financial system.
Such a move would mark a further escalation of Washington’s confrontation with the international institution.
The Wall Street Journal report links the initiative to the U.S. administration’s efforts to pressure the ICC, particularly after its decision to issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
