VLEN after the elections in Bërvenicë: Votes belong to citizens, not parties

After the election process in Bërvenicë concluded, the VLEN coalition issued an official response, saying the vote was free and democratic and took place without incidents or violations of election rules.

According to VLEN, in a democracy, the will of citizens must take precedence over all other interests, and at the local level it must remain nonpartisan. The coalition stressed that no political force can control votes or consider them its property, because citizens are free to decide whom to support. It said this democratic principle must be respected by everyone.

VLEN also said the elections in the municipality showed that the country still has much work to do to build an inclusive civic model. According to the coalition, such a model cannot be achieved through calls for voting along ethnic lines alongside LSDM and Levica. VLEN said Albanians do not stand where Levica stands and that, in ethnically diverse societies, every action prompts a reaction. The coalition warned that this approach could fuel a cycle of inflammatory, polarizing rhetoric, deepen ethnic divisions and bring regression rather than progress.
