VIDEO/ Police confession of 46-year-old who killed his wife with a hammer and hid her body in a refrigerator

During sentencing, the judge described the defendant’s attempts to explain his wife’s disappearance as cynical.

Security camera footage from a police station in Britain captured the moment 46-year-old David Barraclough admitted killing his wife.

According to the investigation file, the confession came around 15 days after the crime. The footage shows the 46-year-old entering the police station and initially saying he wants to end his life. He then tells officers: “I killed my wife.”

According to prosecutors, Barraclough struck his wife with a hammer, then bound her body with adhesive tape, wrapped it in a duvet and placed it in a refrigerator in a room in their home.

After the murder, he continued to lie to family members, sending messages from the victim’s phone as though she were still alive. He led her daughter to believe that her mother was in hospital receiving treatment for an illness.

According to the prosecution, after the crime Barraclough began searching for escort services online, signed up for the dating app Tinder and spent his wife’s money in local bars.

When he spoke to police, he tried to portray himself as a victim, claiming he was “a 58-kilogram guy whom no one would believe.”

According to the court, Barraclough had fabricated a web of lies, telling the children and others that his wife was ill and receiving treatment in hospital. He had used her phone to send messages and maintain his false account of events, leading the victim’s daughter to believe she was communicating with her mother.
