US Bombs Iran for Eighth Consecutive Night; Tehran Promises “Unforgettable Lessons”

The US Central Command (CENTCOM), responsible for American operations in the Middle East, announced that the US military continued strikes against Iran for the eighth consecutive night.

According to CENTCOM, the targets of the attacks included coastal surveillance and air defense structures of the Iranian army, as well as forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Washington claims these forces had carried out attacks against American troops in Jordan on July 17.

Earlier, the United States had announced the start of a new wave of bombings against Iran, aiming to “punish” the Revolutionary Guard after the death of two American soldiers in Jordan. President Donald Trump stated the military actions were carried out on his orders.

CENTCOM said the operations aim to reduce Iran’s capabilities to threaten commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as to strike the Revolutionary Guard, which Washington blames for attacks on American personnel.

Iranian media reported that the American bombings struck the port city of Shirik, in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the state agency IRNA announced an area near Hajjabad, in Hormuzgan province, was also hit.

On Saturday, CENTCOM confirmed that two American soldiers lost their lives, while a third is missing, following an Iranian missile and drone attack in Jordan. American authorities report that since the resumption of the conflict in the Middle East, the number of soldiers killed has reached 16.

In a response, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, declared that “the Iranian nation and the resistance front have unforgettable lessons to teach the American enemy.” He accused the US of continuous violations of the memorandum of understanding signed on June 17, emphasizing that “the American president’s signature has no value.”

The Iranian Ministry of Health announced that the American bombings since June 27 have left at least 50 dead and over 500 wounded.

Tehran also declared it had struck an air base used by the US in Jordan, as well as military installations and civilian infrastructure in Kuwait. The Iranian military said the attacks targeted Camp Udairi base, Patriot radar systems, and Ali Al-Salem air base.

Kuwaiti authorities reported that the Iranian strikes caused severe damage to a vital oil facility, while a plant for water desalination and electricity production was put out of operation. The Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the attacks, describing them as “war crimes.”

In Iran’s Hormuzgan province, authorities said the American attacks completely destroyed a seawater pumping station and an electrical transformer at a desalination plant.

The situation remains tense in the Strait of Hormuz as well. The Revolutionary Guard declared that strikes will continue until “calm is restored” on Iran’s southern coast and in the Strait of Hormuz.

Since the resumption of clashes, commercial ship traffic in the strait has been significantly reduced. Meanwhile, the US has reinstated the blockade on Iranian ports, just days after it was lifted under the memorandum of understanding between the parties.
