Gazment Bardhi, the head of the Democratic Party’s Parliamentary Group, has reacted to the new 18.6 million euro tender, excluding VAT, announced by the Albanian Power Corporation (KESH) for the operation and maintenance services of the two floating power plants in Vlora, known as the “Tigers.”

In his statement, Bardhi described this contract as another stage of what he calls a corrupt affair, emphasizing that the total expenses of the project are heading toward the figure of 100 million euros.
According to the Democratic MP, the new agreement covers the operation and maintenance of the two power plants for the next two years, while fuel costs and other elements will be paid separately by KESH.
Bardhi points out that around 70 million euros have already been spent on this project, while the energy produced by the power plants has cost approximately 675 euros per megawatt-hour, compared to 111 euros per megawatt-hour, which was the highest price on the exchange, according to the data he presented.
He notes that with the new contract, the bill for the two floating power plants could reach nearly 100 million euros, raising questions about the usefulness and public benefit of this investment.
REACTION OF THE HEAD OF THE DP PARLIAMENTARY GROUP, GAZMENT BARDHI
Tigers 1 and 2, a new contract for an old corrupt affair!
Even though he expelled me for 60 days from Parliament in violation of the Rules of Procedure, Edi Rama thinks he will silence me about his government’s corruption, which is destroying Albanians’ lives.
The issue of the “Tigers of Vlora,” two floating power ships that are costing citizens over 100 million euros, is another reason why I will not stay silent.
Today, Edi Rama has deepened even further the corrupt affair that began with the contract signed by Belinda Balluku for the two floating power plants in Vlora.
KESH has announced the winner of a new 18.6 million euro tender, excluding VAT, for the operation and maintenance of the two Tigers for the next two years. This is therefore a new multi-million euro contract to keep running two power plants that Albania does not need. And this is not the final amount: fuel and other items, covered separately by KESH, will be added to the money that Albanians must pay for favors and personal benefits of Edi Rama in service of his power.
This is the second act of the same corrupt affair.
The first act began with the contracting of the two floating power plants by Belinda Balluku, under the pretext of an energy crisis that never came. For this affair, I have filed a criminal complaint with SPAK, accompanied by official documents proving the pre-determination of the winner, the fake competition, the favoring of the company, and the unjustified costs.
Around 70 million euros have been paid so far for this project, while the little energy these power plants have produced has cost around 675 euros per MWh, compared to 111 euros at the peak of exchange prices. The energy from Rama and Balluku’s “Tigers of Corruption” has cost us six times more.
With the new contract, the bill for the “Tigers of CORRUPTION” is approaching 100 million euros for something the country does not need and that brings no public benefit.
How many more millions must Albanians pay before SPAK takes action?
Why does SPAK stall every time the traces of reported corruption lead to Belinda Balluku and Edi Rama? Why does it not follow the money trail to find out who benefits from these contracts?
It is enough to follow the money. That is where the answers that SPAK is missing can also be found.
