The Alliance holds the government responsible for losing €43.8 million from the Growth Plan

The Alliance has described the loss of €43.8 million in European Union funds as the result of the incompetence and irresponsibility of Kosovo’s government.

In a statement on its official Facebook page, the Alliance accused the government of lacking vision, knowledge and accountability. It said citizens are bearing the consequences of the government’s failures.

The Alliance stressed that the loss of funds comes at a time when prices are rising every day and businesses are closing. It added that this is neither a mistake nor a bureaucratic delay, but an act of irresponsibility that directly harms Kosovo’s future.

In its statement, the Alliance also criticized failures in the economy, the deterioration of international relations and diplomatic isolation. It said the cost of this failure is being paid not by government officials, but by the citizens of Kosovo.

Kosovo has lost €43.8 million from the European Union (EU) Growth Plan after failing to complete six of the 13 reform steps due by June 2026 because of the political deadlock.

Kosovo’s chief negotiator with the EU and national coordinator for the Growth Plan, Jeton Zulfaj, reported to the Committee on European Integration today that seven of the 13 planned steps were completed during the extended period through June 2026. The remaining six were not completed by the deadline.

Zulfaj said the Growth Plan for Kosovo is worth a total of €882.6 million. Two-thirds of that amount consists of loans tied to 111 reform steps, which must be completed by the end of August next year.

Most of the reforms that were not completed required parliament to pass draft laws, but the institution had not been constituted.

According to Zulfaj, Kosovo must also complete another 22 steps by December 31, worth €131.5 million. He said 10 acts must be approved by parliament, while the government is expected to submit some of the draft laws.
