During its latest meeting, chaired by Tetovo Deputy Mayor Albi Qamili, the group’s members also approved the Action Plan and timetable for the work, with the aim of completing the procedure as quickly as possible.

Qamili announced that the meeting had approved the list of 145 new names for Tetovo’s streets and squares, along with the Action Plan and schedule for the next stages of the work. According to him, the goal is to resolve the issue in the shortest possible time.

He explained that the approved proposals reflect Tetovo’s history and present-day reality, as well as the ethnic communities that coexist in the city.

The deputy mayor stressed that efforts to eliminate this long-standing inherited problem would continue with dedication. He said the process was expected to be completed soon through a comprehensive and institutionally sustainable solution.

The completion of the renaming process is expected to ensure broader representation of Tetovo’s identity, history and reality, resolving one of the issues that has remained unsettled for years. In this way, the Yugoslav-era names retained by previous administrations will finally become a thing of the past.
