Appearing live on Mirela Milori’s “Tonight” program, student Emi Meçani said that the protest has one main demand: the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the holding of early elections based on a new Electoral Code.

Meçani said she had taken part in the protest since its first day and would remain there until it ended. According to her, students and citizens are exhausted by the situation in the country, while demands for dormitories, scholarships, food and support for students from outside Tirana have been repeated for eight years.
“I have been at the protest since the first day and I will be there until the last day. We are all tired; we can’t go on living like this. In reality, life throughout Albania and Tirana is suffocating all of us, both as students and as citizens. We are calling for the prime minister’s resignation and for the country to hold elections under a new Electoral Code. Because it no longer makes sense for us to sit down with the prime minister at a table over demands that we have been making to him for eight years. We have asked for dormitories, scholarships, food and support for students who come from outside Tirana. We are all tired of going there and begging him to give them to us. It no longer makes sense for us to beg the prime minister. We will continue until he resigns. If he does not resign, I am certain that the situation will worsen,” the student said.
Asked by moderator Mirela Milori whether the student movement would turn into a new political force, Emi Meçani said she had no knowledge of such a development.
