Stojanço Radiçeski, the candidate of the “Your Macedonia” coalition led by OBRM-PDUKM; Jovica Radeski, from the coalition led by LSDM; independent candidates Dushan Bogdanovski and Arife Idrizi; Jakup Useini from “VLEN”; and Arkin Jahiji from the National Alliance for Integration, a coalition led by DUI, are competing in the October 18 elections.
During the campaign, each of the candidates promised voters greater local development, investment, commitment to young people and careful management of the municipality’s finances.
Although OBRM-PDUKM and VLEN are coalition partners in government, they are participating in these elections with separate candidates. ZNAM supports the candidate of the largest party in government. The opposition parties LSDM and DUI are also each running their own candidate.
The large number of candidates has prompted assessments that the vote will go to a second round. In that case, the next round should be held two weeks later, on November 1.
Polling stations will be open as usual from 07:00 to 19:00. According to the State Election Commission’s final voter list, a total of 16,256 people are registered to vote.
The first unofficial results are expected by midnight on Sunday, while the official results will be announced no later than 48 hours after the vote. /Telegrafi/
