Three people have been detained in Shtip following a police operation targeting the sale and possession of narcotics. According to a statement from Macedonia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, on 08.08.2026, at around 22:00, on “Shtipski Sokak” Street, officers from the Department for the Suppression of the Illegal Trade in Drugs and Weapons at the Shtip Sector for Internal Affairs found M.B. and M.Xh.U. (24), from Turkey and temporarily residing in Shtip, selling marijuana to F.R. (23), from Shtip.

F.R. was arrested at the scene, and marijuana was found during a search. M.B. and M.Xh.U. fled the scene, but shortly afterward police managed to apprehend M.Xh.U., who was taken into custody. Marijuana and a knife were found on him.
After notifying the public prosecutor and the preliminary proceedings judge, police went to M.B.’s apartment. There they found A.B. (21), from Turkey, who was also temporarily residing in Shtip. During a search of the apartment, several bags and packages containing marijuana, a white powdery substance and a digital scale were seized.
M.Xh.U., A.B. and F.R. were held at the police station. On 09.08.2026, by court order, police also searched the house where A.B. resides in Shtip. During the operation, marijuana, a grinder, money in various currencies and other items suspected of originating from criminal activity were found and confiscated.
A criminal complaint has been filed in the case, while M.Xh.U. and A.B. have been placed in pretrial detention, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
