The protest against the government in Tirana is continuing today, marking the 107th day of civic resistance. Following the gathering held a day earlier, citizens have returned to the square to continue the protest and reiterate their political demands.

During the 106th protest, participants gathered in Skanderbeg Square and then marched toward the Prime Minister’s Office. Albanians from the diaspora also took part in the gathering.
The protesters’ main demand remains the government’s departure and the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. They have also announced an escalation of the protest through what they call “civil disobedience.”
Speeches delivered during the gathering conveyed the message that the resistance would continue. One protester said the movement had entered a new phase, comparing the citizens’ persistence to “a drop of water that wears away a stone.” According to him, after 106 days of protest, cracks have also begun to appear within the structures of power.
“No one imagined that even after 106 days we would still be thousands in the square in front of the Prime Minister’s Office,” one of the protesters said, emphasizing that the goal remains to bring down the government.
Activist Arben Kola called on Albanians living in the diaspora to return and join the protest. He announced that, starting today, the gathering in Skanderbeg Square would begin at 6:30 p.m., after which protesters would march along the boulevard toward the Prime Minister’s Office. Kola described the diaspora’s participation as important and stated: “today is the time; tomorrow it will be too late.”
The protest initially began because of opposition to projects in the Zvërnec and Sazan areas and in protected territories, but later developed into a broader revolt against the government. Among the demands raised during the days of protest are the government’s departure, changes to the legal framework for strategic investors, the cancellation of the Mountain Package, and amendments to laws related to protected areas.
The presence of Albanians from the diaspora has been one of the defining features of the protests held in recent days.
