Israel’s parliamentary elections failed to produce a clear majority, as neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc nor the opposition secured the number of seats needed to form a government.
The result has created a complicated political situation, with possible outcomes ranging from the formation of a national unity government to new elections.

According to a BBC analysis, four main scenarios could determine Israel’s future political developments, including the possibility that Netanyahu will remain in power.
One option is the formation of a broad coalition government, in which Netanyahu’s Likud party would join forces with opposition parties. Reaching such an agreement would require overcoming deep political divisions, especially since part of the opposition campaigned with the aim of removing the prime minister from government.
In this case, Netanyahu might be forced to reconsider his relations with right-wing and ultra-Orthodox parties in order to secure the parliamentary support he needs.
Another scenario involves the opposition cooperating with Arab parties to create a majority in parliament. This possibility faces major political difficulties because of ideological differences and the opposing positions of Israeli parties on such cooperation.
Reaching an agreement would require complicated negotiations and sufficient support from lawmakers to form an alternative majority to Netanyahu’s government.
Another path for the prime minister would be to reorganize the right-wing camp by seeking alliances with other parties and figures on the Israeli right.
The success of this plan depends on these forces’ willingness to cooperate with Netanyahu. Political clashes and disagreements over important issues, including military service for ultra-Orthodox students, could block an agreement.
If the talks fail to produce results and neither side manages to form a government with a parliamentary majority, Israel could face early elections.
In the meantime, until a new government is formed, Netanyahu may continue serving as prime minister.
