The meeting with journalists is scheduled to begin at 12:00 and will be held in the conference hall of the old Pristina Municipality building.
A day earlier, Rama said that Kosovo could lose the right to host the 2030 edition. In support of this warning, he published a letter from the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (ICMG).
Minister of Sport and Youth Blerim Gashani reacted to Rama’s statement, assuring that Kosovo would host the Games and that the government would guarantee their organization.
In a Facebook post, Gashani criticized Rama’s decision to make the correspondence public. According to him, the published letter does not include all the communications and commitments of the institutions.
“The publication of this correspondence, without reflecting the entirety of the institutional communications and commitments, with unnecessary dramatization and unfounded alarm, constitutes, to put it mildly, a problematic approach by the mayor of Pristina,” Gashani wrote.
The minister emphasized that the government’s commitment to holding the Mediterranean Games remains unwavering, while the issues presented are being addressed through inter-institutional coordination.
Rama responded to Gashani with a brief message: “Minister, translate the letter.”
During today’s conference, the mayor of Pristina is expected to provide further explanations about the ICMG letter and developments related to the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games.
