PD Reorganization: Berisha Thanks Former Associates, Noka and Bardhi Retain Leadership Posts

With a wounded spirit but no ambition to compete. A day after the Democratic Party’s new leadership structure was elected, Sali Berisha appeared before those present to express sympathy for those who are no longer part of the new leadership. He publicly apologized to Lorenc Luka, whose name appeared on the ballots even though he himself had no intention of running.

“I would like to publicly apologize to Mr. Lorenc Luka. He informed us that he did not want to take part in the race, but his message was noticed late. At the same time, I wholeheartedly thank my former associates, Oerd Bylykbashi, Luçiano Boçi, Ivi Kaso and Edi Paloka, for their extraordinary contribution,” Berisha stated.

Meanwhile, he appeared more optimistic about the new members of the team. Flamur Noka will continue to be the chairman’s right-hand man after once again securing the mandate of secretary-general following a contest with Saimir Korreshi. Klevis Balliu has taken responsibility for organizing the party, while two fresh figures have been added to the group of vice-chairpersons: Nikola Kedhi and Erisa Bajaziti. In this process, Gjekmarkaj and Bardhi did not receive support in the vote, while Belind Këlliçi emerged victorious over Luçiano Boçi in the race for the post of vice-chairman.

“A meaningful renewal is taking place in the PD’s governing bodies, with personalities who stand out in their respective fields. This process also shows that the free vote is the main pillar of this political force’s functioning,” said the leader of the blue headquarters.

Although he has chosen not to attend Parliament until the end of this session, he is not lacking information from there. The Conference of Chairpersons granted the Electoral Reform Commission an extension until November 30, with the approval of Democratic representatives as well, but the harmony surrounding territorial reform has now broken down. The Socialist Party intends to proceed independently and will submit its report on the new administrative map on July 23.

Berisha sharply criticized the conduct of the Albanian executive regarding the Serbian minister’s statements about Kosovo, repeating his call for her to be declared persona non grata.
