The ranger service of Pelister National Park, in coordination with the Bitola Internal Affairs Department, carried out a several-hour operation overnight to locate several armed individuals suspected of having ventured deep into the park.

The operation began on August 12, after 19:00, after the rangers received information from several sources on the ground about the presence of individuals carrying firearms. According to initial information, they are suspected of having entered the protected area to engage in illegal hunting.
Two patrols from Pelister National Park, led by director Ivancho Toshevski, were deployed in the operation, which also involved police officers from the Bitola Internal Affairs Department.
During the search, the teams encountered difficult mountainous terrain at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters above sea level.
The patrols operated separately and approached the area where the armed individuals had been seen from two directions: one via the village of Velushina and the other from the National Park’s Information Center.
