Tensions between the United States and Iran have flared up again, after the American military launched air and missile strikes on several strategic areas in southern Iran.
US Central Command said the operations are a response to Iran’s aggression against commercial ships and civilian crews in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important waterways for the global oil trade.

President Donald Trump had earlier warned that the US would “hit” Iran “hard,” describing the country as a threat to international security.
Following that warning, Iran’s foreign minister responded by saying that Tehran does not answer “vulgarity with vulgarity,” but with actions “without fear and with courage.”
Iranian media reported explosions in the cities of Konarak and Chabahar, where some areas were left without electricity.
US Central Command stressed that the strikes will continue in order to weaken Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
“The United States is holding Iran accountable for the unjustified aggression against commercial ships and civilian crews freely transiting a vital international waterway,” the statement said.
This development is expected to raise tensions in the region and affect global energy markets. The Strait of Hormuz is a key artery for oil supplies, and any conflict there has immediate consequences for the world economy.
