Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski said the main projects are at different stages, so the completion deadlines are not the same for all segments.
Among the projects of particular importance is the Kërçovë–Bukojçan highway, where work has recently begun. Nikoloski stressed that this road will strengthen Skopje’s connections with Tetova, Gostivar, Kërçova, Ohrid and Struga, and will help make Corridor 8 functional.
Due to the difficult mountainous terrain, the project includes the construction of a tunnel, several bridges and viaducts, as well as road junctions.
The Prilep–Manastir highway and the Tetovë–Gostivar segment, according to the minister, are planned to be completed by the end of 2029.
The Gostivar–Bukojçan segment crosses a mountainous area and includes a large number of bridges. Its completion is expected during 2029–2030. Meanwhile, construction of the Bukojçan–Kërçovë highway is expected to last four years, although the construction company has promised it may finish the project earlier.
As for the Ohër–Kërçovë highway, Nikoloski expects a section of the road to be put into use soon, while completion of the entire project will also depend on weather conditions.
According to him, carrying out these constructions will modernize the road infrastructure and shorten connection times between different regions of the country.
