The case of the 14-year-old who was attacked with a knife in Skopje’s Hasanbeg neighborhood should be treated as attempted murder and not simply as violence. This is the demand of the minor’s mother, who has expressed dissatisfaction with the way institutions are handling the case.
Xheljana Selimi says her son had been in Hasanbeg together with his cousins and, after receiving a phone call, went out to a park to meet some friends. According to her, it was not his friends waiting for him at the scene, but three adults who attacked him as soon as he arrived.

“One hit him on the head with a rifle, the second struck him on the body, while the third stabbed him seven times in the back with a knife,” she told Telma television.
After the incident, the suspects fled, while the injured minor was found by a passerby, who then alerted the ambulance and the police.
According to the mother, her son continues to live in fear, while the family does not feel safe.
“Today it was my child, tomorrow it could be someone else’s child. This case should not be treated as violence, but as attempted murder. The perpetrators must be held accountable,” Selimi said.
She also stressed that she is unaware of any motive or previous conflict that may have led to the attack.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that three people with the initials J.J., V.A. and V.S. have been arrested over the attack on the minor, which took place on June 22 in the Gazi Baba area.
According to the ministry, the appropriate criminal charges will be filed after the case has been fully documented./INA/
