Moscow has threatened the Baltic states with a “decisive” response and “devastating” consequences for any action Russia considers hostile.

The warning was issued by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova following a drone incident near Estonia’s border, during which several aircraft entered Estonian airspace.
Following the incident, NATO fighter jets were scrambled from Ämari Air Base in Estonia, while the country’s authorities activated an air threat alert. Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said the danger had passed and that NATO’s response had been swift and in line with established procedures.
The tense situation in the Baltic region coincides with an increase in military and air incidents on NATO’s eastern flank. The alliance has long increased its presence and air surveillance in the area, defining the protection of member states’ airspace as a priority.
During the same period, fighting between Russia and Ukraine has also intensified, accompanied by continued missile and drone attacks. During the latest night alone, Russian strikes on Kyiv and the surrounding areas caused casualties and significant damage.
