Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski commented on his party’s candidate losing the local election in Brvenica. He said his party ran on a platform and a vision, while its opponents, in his view, benefited from demographic weight, appeals to national identity and a “Trojan horse” to secure votes.
“We were alone against everyone: We put forward an election platform and a vision, while the other side used demographic support, appeals to national identity and a ‘Trojan horse’ to attract voters.

Nevertheless, the increase in our votes compared with the first round is clear and indisputable: We went from 3,000 to 4,200. We also received 1,300 more votes than in the parliamentary elections, but unfortunately that was not enough to win outright.
I am grateful to all the residents of Brvenica who voted for us, as well as those who chose not to. The government will support all residents of Brvenica.
‘A Brvenica for everyone’ is not just a vision, but the way we work,” Mickoski wrote.
