Nicolae Ștefănuță, Vice-President of the European Parliament and an MEP, has reacted in strong terms to what he described as police violence against protesters during the demonstration held today in Tirana.
In his posts on social media, he shared footage from the incidents reported during the rally, underlining that “police violence against protesters is unacceptable.”

Just a few days earlier, Ștefănuță had also personally taken part in the protest held in Tirana, where citizens are demanding the non-negotiable resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the removal of his government.
Earlier, the MEP explained that his visit to Albania aimed to understand the situation firsthand and to listen to citizens, civil society and institutions.
“We must listen to what people are saying and understand what they are feeling. We are also here to support citizens, because this flag symbolizes the unity of peoples. Albanians deserve EU membership, but they also deserve the rule of law and justice, just as in Europe,” he said during his visit to Tirana.
