Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci said in an interview with “Talking With TVP World” that Serbia has established 48 military and gendarmerie bases near the border line with Kosovo.

According to him, Belgrade is supporting criminal groups in Kosovo involved in smuggling and other criminal activities, with the aim of destabilizing the country and thereby threatening the security of the Western Balkans. Maqedonci said Serbia seeks to present itself as an important actor in the region and pursue hegemonic interests toward others.
He also stressed that, in addition to its hybrid actions against Kosovo, Serbia is exposing the country to threats by positioning its military and police capabilities along the border.
Maqedonci compared the situation with Russia’s deployment of forces before the annexation of Ukraine, underlining that 48 bases of Serbian military and police forces are located near the border with Kosovo.
