LSDM said today that the ruling VMRO-DPMNE is seeking to introduce changes to the electoral model for the diaspora vote which, it says, create opportunities for possible abuse.
During a press conference, the party’s spokesperson, Bogdanka Kuzeska, said the initial idea of electronic voting for the diaspora has been replaced with a proposal for postal voting, which she said does not provide sufficient oversight and guarantees to protect the electoral will.

“Mickoski and VMRO-DPMNE have no intention of giving up their efforts to manipulate and abuse more than 200,000 votes from the diaspora. After realizing they could not introduce electronic voting in the diaspora without any oversight, they are now trying a form of postal voting. And again, without any oversight or guarantees for respecting the free will of citizens, a new model and an opportunity for electoral manipulation and irregularities. Mickoski is not interested in the reform agenda, it is only an excuse for him. Electoral robbery is the only thing that matters to him,” she said.
Kuzeska also underlined that LSDM’s positions regarding the Electoral Code are not radical, as VMRO-DPMNE portrays them, but are aimed at guaranteeing a safe and transparent electoral process.
“LSDM’s positions on the Electoral Code are not as radical as Mickoski wants to portray them. What is radical is the way he wants to carry out electoral robbery,” the spokesperson said.
