These messages are presented as notifications from the Traffic Department of the “Safe City” system. They contain a fake link and ask citizens to pay for a traffic violation that does not exist.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens to exercise caution online: not to open suspicious messages or links and not to provide personal data through unauthorized channels, such as bank card numbers, passwords or personal identifiers. Suspicious messages should be reported to the relevant institutions or the respective bank.

According to the ministry, SMS messages notifying recipients of a committed traffic violation must have “MVR-SC” as the sender. The text must include the license plate of the vehicle that committed the violation and a specific link from “Safe City”.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs says it is investigating all such claims.
