Hoti: Digital Inspections and Drone Monitoring at High-Risk Workplaces to Begin September 1

Andin Hoti, acting minister of labor, has announced that, starting September 1, the Central Labor Inspectorate will conduct inspections entirely digitally, following a decision to strengthen inspection oversight.

According to Hoti, the change will enable real-time data documentation, increase transparency and accountability, and make the monitoring of fieldwork more efficient.

“At the same time, we will begin using drone technology as an auxiliary tool during inspections at construction sites and high-risk workplaces, in accordance with the legislation in force. We will also take steps to strengthen interinstitutional coordination, with the aim of enabling the responsible institutions to exchange information in real time and making oversight as preventive as possible,” he wrote.

The announcement comes on the same day that the Council for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms (CPHRF) responded to the latest workplace deaths, describing the state of worker safety in Kosovo as still alarming.

The CPHRF said that 32 workers lost their lives in Kosovo last year, most of them in the construction sector.
