Government presents 2027 draft budget: €4.27 billion, including €908 million for municipalities

The Kosovo government presented its draft budget for 2027 today, projecting spending of €4.27 billion. Prime Minister Albin Kurti said €908 million of that amount is earmarked as direct funding for municipalities.

According to Kurti, the draft budget is €200 million higher than the revised 2026 budget and €300 million above that year’s original budget. He described the allocation for municipalities as a record, attributing it to the continued increase in government grants.

The prime minister said the Tax Administration of Kosovo (ATK) is expected to collect revenue equivalent to 60 percent of the amount customs is projected to collect under the 2027 draft budget. He also cited economic growth this year, which, despite the challenges facing Kosovo and the rest of the world, reached 5.4 percent in the first quarter and 4.1 percent in the second. According to Kurti, these figures place Kosovo among the fastest-growing countries in the region and beyond, and demonstrate continued budget growth and the stability of public finances.

Once approved, the draft law must be sent to the Assembly of Kosovo for review and a vote. Meanwhile, LDK lawmakers have criticized the government, saying it missed the legal deadline for submitting the 2027 budget.
