Following the fatal shooting in the village of Livoç i Poshtëm, in the Municipality of Gjilan, the Serious Crimes Department of the Basic Prosecution Office in Gjilan has issued a media statement providing information about the case and the investigative actions taken.

According to the statement, on 09.10.2026, at around 14:30, the Kosovo Police—Regional Rapid Response Unit in Gjilan informed the State Prosecutor about the incident. The suspect, V.R. (38), from Gjilan, is suspected of shooting and killing his wife, N.B. (27), and her brother, E.B. (31). The motives remain unknown.
M.B. (48), the suspect’s wife’s paternal cousin, was also seriously injured in the incident. He is receiving treatment at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo due to the injuries he sustained.
The State Prosecutor and all relevant police teams went to the scene, where they carried out the necessary actions to shed light on the case, the Prosecution said.
During these actions, physical evidence and a “Bereta” pistol were seized. Its permit had expired. The weapon is suspected of having been used to commit the criminal offense. Additional physical evidence was seized following searches at three locations on the suspect’s properties.
The statement also explains that the suspect has no criminal record and that no cases of domestic violence had been reported.
The Basic Prosecution Office in Gjilan emphasized that, in coordination with the Kosovo Police, it has undertaken investigative actions and will continue them in order to fully and properly clarify the facts of the case.
