Meksi stresses that the crisis cannot be resolved by denying the problems or ignoring citizens’ concerns, but through dialogue and a serious consultation process.

“The demand for the prime minister’s departure cannot be ignored, nor should it become a cause of further confrontation. It must be handled with political responsibility, respecting the will of citizens and democratic procedures. It is time for political leaders to seriously consider options for a solution that calms the situation, ensures that institutions continue to function and helps restore trust,” Ermelinda Meksi writes.

Meksi calls on political leaders, lawmakers, party forums, intellectuals and civil society representatives to take responsibility for the situation.

“Begin a genuine process of consultation and dialogue in which citizens’ concerns, especially those of students, are heard and possible ways out of the crisis are considered sincerely,” the former Socialist minister writes, among other things.

When the country is in crisis, let wisdom have its say!

I have waited to write, not because I have not been concerned, but because at moments like this, words must be weighed carefully and appeals must lead toward a solution, not escalation.

My many years of political experience have taught me that no serious crisis is resolved by denying the problem, ignoring discontent or placing narrow interests above the interests of the country.

During my many years of work with the OSCE, I also dealt with the importance of addressing corruption to prevent accumulated discontent from turning into a revolt that threatens the country’s stability and security. This experience has convinced me that lasting stability is not achieved by silencing discontent, but by addressing its causes.

Albania needs wisdom, responsibility and a serious political solution. When trust in governance has been shaken and public anger is so visible, statements and the usual formulas are not enough. It takes political courage to face reality and find a way forward that serves the country.

My experience in politics has taught me that political forums are valuable when they create space for open debate, reflection and collective decision-making. In difficult moments, a political party must have the courage to listen to critical voices, assess the situation without prejudice and put the country’s interests above all other considerations.

The demand for the prime minister’s departure cannot be ignored, nor should it become a cause of further confrontation. It must be handled with political responsibility, respecting the will of citizens and democratic procedures. It is time for political leaders to seriously consider options for a solution that calms the situation, ensures that institutions continue to function and helps restore trust.

I call on political leaders, lawmakers, political forums, intellectuals and civil society representatives to take the responsibility this moment demands.

Begin a genuine process of consultation and dialogue in which citizens’ concerns, especially those of students, are heard and possible ways out of the crisis are considered sincerely.

Violence is not a solution. But ignoring the causes of anger will not bring peace, either. Provocations must be avoided, peaceful protests protected, and the political crisis must not be allowed to become an even deeper social wound.

Albania comes before any individual, office or party. No political power is worth more than social peace, the dignity of citizens and the country’s future.

It is time for politics to show wisdom, not by buying time, but by finding solutions. Political responsibility is measured not only by how power is won, but also by the courage to act when the country’s interests demand it.

Let wisdom and responsibility toward Albania prevail!
