The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) says that, for the first time since the Military Academy opened in 1995, no ethnic Albanian cadets have been admitted this year.
According to the party, this situation raises serious questions about VLEN’s influence and role in state institutions, where Albanian representation should be visible in practice, not merely proclaimed as a principle.

DUI stresses that responsibility does not lie with VLEN alone and that the government must understand that trust between political partners is built by respecting equality, representation and political agreements, not through statements. The party believes such cases undermine the spirit of the Ohrid Agreement, weaken the principle of fair and adequate representation and raise questions about interethnic relations.
“VLEN must explain what happened to the representation it promised. This is no way to build trust, respect representation or strengthen institutional coexistence. This is not how Albanians should be represented. Representation is a principle, not a privilege, and it must not be held hostage to political calculations,” DUI says.
