Biljana Eftimova, deputy director of Štip Clinical Hospital, announced today that preliminary estimates put the damage caused by the severe weather that struck Štip on July 21 at several million denars. However, the institution is still awaiting the insurance company’s official report.

According to Eftimova, an additional expert assessment is needed alongside the insurer’s findings, as further damage requiring repairs was discovered after the initial inspection.
The roof and the third floor, which houses the orthopedics ward and operating room, the intensive care unit and the coma center, sustained the most severe damage. Eftimova said these areas had been left without a roof, while the final cost of the damage remains unknown, although it is expected to run into millions of denars.
Health Minister Sasho Klekovski also visited Štip Hospital today. He said developments were being closely monitored and that funds for reconstruction had already been allocated in the institution’s budget.
Klekovski said the Ministry would monitor the entire process and, once the value of the damage had been determined, would provide the necessary funds. The goal is to complete the work within the deadline and restore the orthopedics department to operation as soon as possible.
