Chair Municipality has issued a response following statements by opposition municipal councilors, rejecting claims that there is no commission for recording and assessing the damage caused by the recent rainfall.
According to the municipality’s clarification, the Commission for assessing and determining the amount of damage from natural disasters and other calamities was established back in May by a decision of the Municipal Council, in accordance with the legislation in force.

The response stresses that institutions do not wait for disasters to happen before acting, but instead set up institutional mechanisms in advance to guarantee preparedness and a swift response.
The municipality said that immediately after the intense rainfall, municipal teams, the Crisis Headquarters, public enterprises and the competent institutions went into the field and intervened at every location where there was a need.
At the same time, according to the response, the recording of damage has also begun, while the commission will continue procedures for its assessment and processing in line with the methodology and deadlines set by law.
The municipality considers the opposition’s demand to create the commission unfounded, because it has already been formed and approved by the Municipal Council itself, in which opposition councilors also took part.
In conclusion, Chair Municipality underlines that it remains committed to ensuring that every case reported by citizens is treated with seriousness, professionalism and transparency, while compensation for damages will be carried out in accordance with legal procedures and institutional competencies.
It also calls on political entities, in situations that affect citizens, to help with accurate and constructive information while avoiding the creation of inaccurate perceptions.
