Ervin Demo is the successor to Besfort Lamallari at the helm of the Ministry of the Interior, following the latter’s departure at the decision of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The new Minister of the Interior, Ervin Demo, has served as Minister of State for Local Government since September 2025. According to Prime Minister Rama, the two departments will be merged into a single ministry.
During his political career, Ervin Demo served as Mayor of Berat from 2019 to 2025.
According to the CV published on the Prime Minister’s Office website, Ervin Demo served as Deputy Minister of Education, Sports and Youth from 2017 to 2018, while from 2012 to 2016 he was Deputy Rector of the University of Tirana.
His career is closely linked to higher education. Since 2004, he has been a full-time lecturer in the Department of Management at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tirana.
Demo completed his higher education in the United Kingdom, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
He later pursued postdoctoral studies at the University of Bologna in Italy, specializing in management and academic development.
