Ilir Alimehmeti, head of the Democratic Party’s Health Department, has raised questions in a public statement about the reasons behind Evis Sala’s departure from the Ministry of Health. According to him, media reports point to disagreements over a draft law concerning concessions, tenders and contracts in healthcare. Alimehmeti is calling on Sala to appear publicly and clarify the truth about her departure.

Did Ms. Evis Sala leave the helm of the Ministry of Health with her head held high or bowed? When someone takes on the leadership of such an important institution, responsible for the burden of providing healthcare services, everyone naturally understands that the role involves extreme professional, political and, ultimately, family and personal burdens, pressures and exhaustion!
It is absolutely unacceptable to claim that she left because of international professional commitments, as that would mean she never considered the public interest a priority over her own! I do not believe that! But what is the real reason for her departure? Did she realize that she lacked the ability to pursue that political direction? Did a major scandal erupt that led to her removal? Was she subjected to significant pressure? Did she disagree with the way the government was being led?
To preserve the integrity of her professional image, she herself needs to explain the matter to the public! Media sources and the corridors of the Ministry of Health point to her disagreement with signing a draft law that hands the entire healthcare system, including its concessions, tenders and contracts, over to a single set of hands! If this is the truth behind her departure, she must rise to the level of the duty she held, come forward with her head held high and her integrity intact, and denounce this betrayal of healthcare by the prime minister!
We would all tell her, “Bravo, that is all you could do in this rotten system!” If this is the truth and she leaves without speaking out, it means that through inaction she agrees to this mega-deal going ahead anyway, just without her signature, so that she does not face legal consequences personally! In that case, it turns out that she, like so many other exploiters and abusers, thinks only of herself and never placed the public interest in healthcare among her priorities!
Whether she leaves with her head held high or bowed is for her to decide! Unfortunately, over one full solar year she failed to leave even the slightest mark of improvement on the healthcare system, offering only phrases such as “we will wait for the data,” “we will wait until the end of the year,” “I have never needed medication and I do not know that prices have increased,” and others like them! Good luck with your international engagement; as for your national commitment, it is better not to speak of it again!
