Vatnikaj said the protesters were concerned about the manner in which the arrests were carried out, stressing that footage released showed that the number of police officers was greater than the number of protesters.
“We demand the release of the protesters and an end to police violence. They were concerned because the arrests were violent. I do not know whether there are allegations of specific acts of violence, but the footage shows that the number of police officers was greater than the number of protesters,” she said.
Vatnikaj said the protests would continue every day until Prime Minister Edi Rama resigns.
“We will protest every day until Rama resigns,” the activist said.
According to her, the protesters are also demanding a change in the political class and the creation of a new political class. Vatnikaj announced two nationwide protests.
“The demand is also for a change in the political class, for a political class that is not corrupt. The protest will continue every day. We will be there every day to demand Rama’s resignation and the start of democratic processes. Monday marks 100 days. We have two nationwide protests on Monday and Saturday, and we expect maximum mobilization,” she concluded.
